I made myself a new challenge in MapCrunch.
Set country to the country you live in and find your home!

Well, fuck.

I cheated once because it landed me 3000 miles away from my house and I simply can’t go that far (because DISTANCE, I could probably find my way but DISTANCE MAN).  So I did it one more time and it landed me in Texas!

The image is kind of shitty, but from a geographic perspective:

  • This is in the east half of the state, due to flatness and greenery;
  • I’m having a hard time telling if there are pine trees or not, but I’ve traveled a little distance and from the density of the greenery and from the apparent absence of loblolly pine I’m gonna say that this is close to the pineywoods but not quite, which should put me as close as 50 miles or as far as 300.
  • I’m on FM (Farm-to-Market road, a designation in Texas which is one step below a highway) 1728, which is numerically close to several FMs in my area (I’m north of FM 1960 and south of 1488 and other 1400 FMs, so I find it likely that this is due west of my house towards the borders of the pineywoods; I don’t know if there’s a geographic significance to FM numbers, but I’m guessing that the first two digits denotate the region and the last two are arbitrary or perhaps indicate direction a la interstate highway numbering).
  • It’s very flat, which would agree with the pineywoods border idea and place it east of Waco and far east of San Antonio and Austin.  Probably south of Dallas.

Okay, let’s see what the next major intersection is.
